UpsideDown Company Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to your interactions with our website (upsidedown.company and related domains) as well as our mobile applications and services.

1. The Reality Check

We are a business, not a charity. We build software to make a living, and we want this company to be around for the long haul. To do that, we need to understand if our products are working and if our marketing is reaching the right people.

However, our business model is selling software, not people. We do not collect your personal data with the intention of selling it to third parties.

2. What We May Collect (And Why)

We focus on aggregate data-information that tells us "what" is happening across our user base rather than identifying you as an individual.

For our mobile apps, specific data collection practices (including any technical metadata, analytics, or inferred location) are declared in detail in each app's App Store Privacy Details and may vary by app. We primarily rely on on-device processing wherever possible.

This may include, if enabled (such as through system settings or in-app prompts):

  • Technical Metadata: Operating system versions, device types, and crash reports to ensure our code actually works on your hardware.
  • Engagement Analytics: How often certain features are used or the timing of usage to help us decide which features to improve.
  • Inferred Location: General location data (like your city or state), usually inferred from an IP address or provided by the platform.
  • Marketing ROI: Analytics to see if advertisements we pay for actually resulted in someone checking out our work.

Some of our apps may collect certain data points by default to function properly, but each individual app will make this clear to you.

3. Apple-Specific Notes

When downloading from the App Store, Apple's privacy policies additionally apply. Apple may collect anonymized usage statistics. If you create an iCloud backup, data stored in our apps may be part of that backup.

4. Third-Party Links and Services

Our services may contain links to third-party websites, services, or content that are not owned or controlled by UpsideDown. Our privacy policy does not apply to those third parties. When we use a third party, we will list those service providers for each app so you can research their policies as needed to make informed decisions. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

5. Service Providers

If an app needs outside information to work (like fetching a weather forecast), we may source that data from a third-party provider. In these cases, we will do our best to make it clear what type of info will potentially be shared. It is then important for you to consider what type of information you value and want to protect and take the appropriate action.

6. Respectful by Design

We follow a "common sense" approach to data:

  • Local First: Whenever possible, our apps do the heavy lifting (like AI processing or data storage) right on your device, not on our servers.
  • Permissions: If an app needs access to your camera or GPS, we will ask you plainly. You always have the right to say no.

7. Your Data & Control

It's important for you to be aware of all data you share. If you provide identifiable data, it could be stored in our servers or with service providers. While it may be stored by us, it will still be protected under our other policies, such as: WE DO NOT SELL YOUR DATA.

If you believe we hold any identifiable personal data about you and would like it deleted, please submit a deletion request to hello@upsidedown.company with sufficient information to verify your identity. We will review and process verified requests within 30 days, consistent with applicable data protection laws.

App-Specific Practices: Detailed information about data handling for each UpsideDown app is provided in the App Store product page's Privacy section. Our apps strive for minimal server-side data collection.

Data Retention and Security: We retain aggregate analytics data only as long as necessary for the purposes described. Server-stored data (if any) is protected with industry-standard encryption and access controls.

The best way to control your data is to manage your device permissions or delete the app. Since your data is primarily stored on your device, deleting the app typically wipes the slate clean.

8. International Users

The service is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be processed and stored in the United States. By using the service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and the processing of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

9. Children's Privacy

The service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@upsidedown.company.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Privacy Policy on our service and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
